What? Prevent Mental Illness? How is it possible to prevent mental illness? You've never heard of anything like this before, have you? And that's because Cognimmune is the only organization in the world that has developed a method for preventing mental illness. Our very name describes what we do. The technical term for thoughts is cognitions. And everyone knows what immunization means. Cognimmune simply means thought immunization. Cognimmune. Our programs teach you to identify and eliminate the cognitive processes that give rise to mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, PTSD, dysthemia and others that plague our modern world.
And we don't use the word "plague" lightly. According to Mental Health America (MHA), mental health problems are prevalent. They can strike anyone regardless of age, ethnic background, gender, locale or socioeconomic status. Each year, in a typical North American office of 20 people, four will suffer from a mental health problem like one of those mentioned above. There is a very strong likelihood that you may experience mental illness at some point in your life and this could begin while you are only in your 20's. And since the incidence of mental illness is on the rise in every corner of the world this likelihood increases daily. In other words, preventing mental illness should be a matter of immediate concern for everyone - young or old, employer or employee, parent or child - if it isn't already.
“We envision a future when everyone with a mental illness will recover, a future when mental illnesses can be prevented or cured, a future when mental illnesses are detected early, and a future when everyone with a mental illness at any stage of life has access to effective treatment and supports — essentials for living, working, learning, and participating fully in the community.”

Cognimmune For Business
In “Workplace Burden of
Depression: A Case Study in
Social Functioning Using Employer
Claims Data”, HG Birnbaum, et al
established a Median Treatment Cost Per Depressed Employee of $12,847.00. This cost
was established in 1999. Business disruption disability-related costs such as hiring and
training other employees, increased incidence of accidents, poor work performance, and
the effects on the morale of other workers are estimated to be $1.50 for each $1.00 spent
on treatment costs. This works out to an additional $19,270.50 per treated employee
bringing the total annual cost to $32,117.50.
These costs apply to an average of 1 in 10 employees and to depression only! You can
reasonably expect similar costs associated with other mental and emotional illnesses.
Even though you may not have budgeted for these costs they are very real and directly
impact the financial and overall performance of your organization.

Cognimmune For You
If you heard an emergency announcement warning that a tornado was approaching what would you do:
-
Say, “That's not the kind of news I want to hear. Please don't tell me about things like this in the future.”
-
Say, “What are the odds it will hit my house and injure me and my family,” and do nothing.
-
Immediately take whatever steps you could to secure the safety of yourself and your family.
It seems like a ridiculous question doesn't it? If danger, in any form, is threatening us and our families we move immediately to address the threat. We seek shelter, prepare to defend ourselves and our families or confront the threat head on if need be.
Suppose that threat was directed against your health, livelihood and ability to provide for yourself and your family? Would your course of action be any different?
A recent survey commissioned for the Mood Disorders Society of Canada and conducted by Angus Reid Strategies indicates that two-thirds (67%) of Canadians know someone who suffers from depression. Moreover, more than half (56%) say they have worried about suffering from this disabling disease, at some point in their life.
Recent studies have shown that if you suffer some from of depression you are 6 to 7 times more likely to find yourself unemployed than a person with no symptoms of the illness. In addition, of those people in the depression group who found new employment 33% had to take lower paying jobs due to health reasons. What kind of impact will this have on you and your family?
If you want to prevent this from happening to you and your famliy you've come to the right place.

“Medical illnesses and mental illnesses are strongly linked. Many individuals with chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, cancer, or low back pain, are at increased risk of mental illness and substance abuse, particularly depression. Individuals with depression are about twice as likely to develop coronary artery disease, twice as likely to have a stroke, and more than four times as likely to die within six months from a myocardial infarction.”
